The Space Between Us by Anie Michaels

This story is all about second chances.

The story about the childhood sweethearts Charlie and Asher.

Though we've read this plot a number of times already but theirs has something different because something unexpected happened to them which made it impossible for them to move forward. I didn’t think this was second chance romance at all.

Anyway much as I loved the hero, the heroine pissed me off big time. I'm just not the type who can tolerate denials and self preservation that long.

So again this is recommended to those who are in the mood for second chance romance stories.

You by Caroline Kepnes

What a disturbing and terrifying story! So disturbing yet so interesting to read!

I think this is only the second time that I've read something from the point of view of someone who needs help. The whole time I was reading the book I wanted to hug the hero, Joe, because he really needs help. And whats quite awful is that there's nobody there to push him to seek help. Joe is a very likable character, intelligent and sweet, yet damaged and disturbed.

While the heroine is one of the characters that I wanted to punch the whole time. I hated her from the get go. She's so self centered and shallow. She really doesn't deserve Joe.

From the beginning though I had a bit of a hard time understanding the writing because it was written in a way that the hero is speaking to the heroine in the first person manner. Eventually I got the hang of it because I felt that it was brilliant in getting the feelings of the hero across the readers. I felt his frustrations and his adrenaline. I also have to mention that though the sex scenes were not detailed, it was still arousing because the readers can feel the passion of the hero.

I think I have to stop now because I think it's best to start the book blind. Don't read spoilers to feel the impact of the twists.

This book is recommended to those who want to read stories about obsession.

Rainfall by Melissa Delport

Overall Rating: 4.4 stars

This is a beautiful heart breaking story of finding love, losing love and letting go.

I went on blind with this book and I did not regret it. From the first paragraph of the story I was hooked. I liked how the writing of the story makes it fee that the readers are involved. It lures you into the story deeply.

My heart broke for Adam and Paige. I loved them together. You will feel their love for each other in every scene.

I will not delve into the plot anymore because it's worth reading it blind. The impact of the twist and turns will pinch your heart. I had an inkling on the final twist at about 50% into the book but still when I reached that part I was speechless.

This book is highly recommended to those who loved Alessandra Torre's books. Though less sexy because the steamy scenes were tamed down.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Title: Ugly Love

POV: Hero and Heroine
Cliffhanger: Nope

Sexiness: 4

Overall Rating: 4 stars

Well it was really ugly love with the two main characters. Not only did the story focused on the denials and the lie that the main characters inflict on each other, but the story also tackled on the painful past of Miles.

Despite the hotness of Miles, I couldn't like him enough because of the hurt he regularly gave to Tate. This is a rarity but I liked the heroine more than the hero. I liked her spunk and her resilience.

The secondary characters are also likable. I liked Tate's family and also Cap.

This book is recommended to those who love reading about broken men.

Hades Hangmen Series by Tillie Cole

Title: It Ain't Me Babe (book 1) and Hearts Recaptured (book 2)
Series: Yes, book 3, Souls Unfractured, will be about Flame and Maddie
Author: Tillie Cole
POV: Hero and Heroine
Cliffhanger: None

On a scale of 1 to 5 (highest) stars:
Sexiness: 5
Angst: 4
Plot: 4
Thought Provoking: 4
Hangover: 3
Overall Rating: 4 stars

This review is for the first two Hades Hangmen series.

If you want a book with equal amounts of romance and action then this book is for you. There are also violence, rape and many forms of abuse. Both books gives us the inside story of the goings on inside polygamous cults. It is very disturbing quite frankly.

Both books tackle the romance between two couples Styx and Mae then KY and Lilah.

I liked the story of the first couple, Styx and Mae. Sytx is the President of the Hades Hangmen Motorcycle Club. While Mae is the runaway from a polygamous cult. They found each other when both were young and met again in their twenties. It's like a second chance romance thing. They struggled with outside forces at first but was firm in saying that they want each other. The book also focused on finding the rat inside the club.

Unlike the second couple, KY and Lilah. KY is the Vice President of the club. While Lilah is Mae's sister from the cult. It was hard to like her though because of her dwindling faith in KY and her constant back and forth from her fake cult. KY is pre much a dream boat. He is funny and full of life. I just couldn't like Lilah for KY. I read book 2 swiftly because I just couldn't get into the connection of this couple. This sequel focused on helping Lilah survive the outside world and the forces that wants to bring the club down.

The Hades Hangmen's story will continue in the next book. I expect it to be more violent because there's a war looming. I want to see how Flame and Maddie will blossom despite the chaos that will happen.

Book Review: Love in Spanish - Karina Halle

Title: Love in Spanish
Series: Yes
Author: Karina Halle
POV: Hero
Cliffhanger: Nope

On a scale of 1 to 5 (highest) stars:
Sexiness: 5
Angst: 5
Plot: 4
Thought Provoking: 4
Hangover: 4
Overall Rating: 4.4 stars

In book 1 we get to experience the thrill and the excitement of finding true love.

In this sequel to Mateo and Vera's journey, we find out what happens next and how they deal with the consequences of their actions.

We get to know the classy but selfish and manipulative Isabel. Her need to build up her image and reputation. We get to understand Mateo's decisions, why he chose to leave that life. I didn’t think she could be so vile.

We also get to understand Mateo's feelings and connection to Vera. Why despite how wrong it seems, he still held on to her. His feelings poured out of him and every word. He is still the same passionate man we met in book 1 and even better. If I didn’t believe in their connection before, now I've felt it through Mateo's words,

We get to understand and appreciate the young and immature Vera more. She has grown up a bit and has started to make sacrifices for Mateo.

I must say that I liked this book better than the first not only because it is told in Mateo's view but because Vera has matured in a way. She is not the same coward that I read in the first book. Yet she still made some immature decisions but she was able to stand up and fight her way.

Read this book to appreciate and finally accept the love of Mateo and Vera.

Book Review: Love in English - Karina Halle

Title: Love in English
Series: Yes
Author: Karina Halle
POV: Heroine
Cliffhanger: Nope

Angst: 4

Thought Provoking: 3

Overall Rating: 4 stars

“Love is like a thief, it robs you of all thought and logic, and all you have left is a heart that you can only pray is strong enough to survive the rest.”

This is a story of love and passion. The story tackles topics on loving oneself and going after our passion and happiness despite what others say. There is no right or wrong when it comes to love and happiness.

The plot may a little bit hard to accept because of the cheating involved but once you get to know the characters it somehow becomes bearable.

Sadly, if it wasn't for the hero I didn’t think I would finish this book. Mateo, will capture your heart and will stay in your mind for a long time. Yes he made mistakes but his passion and resilience and his strength of character made him a lovable hero. I may not agree with some of his decisions but if I am on the receiving end of it I will probably go with him in a heartbeat.

I cannot say the same for the heroine, Vera. Yes her mind and her heart are at opposing sides but it shouldn't be her motivation for self inflicting her pain and sadness. All her issues are created by her and I can’t help but feel disappointed at her. She can also be so dense and stubborn that everyone around her is telling her what's she's supposed to do but still she chooses the most dramatic step. It's so frustrating. I've mostly breezed through her self denial scenes and most scenes where there is no Mateo. He was the saving grace of this story in my opinion.

Hopefully it will get better on the sequel Love in Spanish, because it's in Mateo's view and probably I'd get a better understanding of the connection between the two characters. In the book though I couldn't grasp on it because the heroine spent a lot of time denying her attraction. She also keeps going back and forth on her feelings that it just frustrated the hell our of me.

I'd also like to get a better insight on what went inside the marriage of Matteo and Isabel as it was only discussed briefly what went wrong but I couldn't accept it just easily. I hope there's a deeper explanation of the cause of their demise.

One thing I liked about this story is that it gave me insights on the Spaniards. It makes me want to visit Madrid and Barcelona. Someday I will definitely do just that and get to know the Spanish culture. I'm not sure if there's really such a thing as the english program in this story but I can just imagine how exciting it would be.

This book is recommended to those who enjoy reading passionate friends to lovers and forbidden romances.

Book Review: Bait by M. Mabie

Title: Bait

Oh man. What have I just read.

I think I've just read pain and sadness and disappointment.

All of these caused by the heroine. Boy how I hated her. Her selfishness and lies.

This is a story about choices. Choices. Good or bad. Right or wrong.

But there is also love. Love for Casey because he is true and genuine with his feelings. He keeps on giving and forgiving Blake.

But what I do know is despite all the hurt, the connection between the two main characters is palpable. They really do have connection and it is really felt. Which makes me hate Blake even more.

This is recommended to those who love to read about angst. I cannot even call this a love story because it seemed one sided. I cannot really accept that Blake really did love Casey for all the pain she put him through. Despite everything he's done for her she still chose the other way.

I cannot wait for the continuation of their story. I want to read how Casey finally gets over Blake. I want to read how Blake finally appreciate Casey. I need the next book soon!

It is always great to catch up with Gideon and Eva. Their story always leaves me with a happy heart. Their story never fails to capture my interest. The author's writing is never dull or dragging.

However, despite how much I love this series, I would now really like to read about their happy ever after. It is already a bit frustrating because I think I am finally ready to for them to get their HEA. I will truly miss these two characters, but I want to move forward with their story. I want them to be done with the obstacles and maybe finally start their family. Hopefully in the next book we will see it through.

If there is still someone out there who haven’t read this series, it is highly recommended. Get lost in the explosive love of Gideon and Eva.
