The issue wasn't that he hadn't loved me. The issue was that he hadn't loved me enough to fight for me. - Savannah
I wanted Savannah so badly it was like a wound that wouldn't heal. I didn't know how to fix it. I didn't know how to make it right. -Gregory
Told in Gregory and Savannah's POV. The book started the very first time they met then moved forward after a few years on their first interaction as student and teacher.
The book delved on the subject of forbidden relationships. This is the 2nd book I've read from Andrea Randall and the 1st for Charles Sheehan Miles. The subject matter is just moderate, the situations in the book are real with the right amount of heartache and angst. The authors created likable characters in the form of Gregory and Savannah. Both are deep thinkers and somehow moody and artistic.
The book was able to hold my interest from the start and reached it's peak in part 2. Gregory and Savannah's story started a bit slow and I was a bit skeptical on their instant love for each other. It was only in part 2 where I felt the love and their connection.
Throughout my reading I was feeling anxious, disappointed and frustrated because I really wanted them to be together. But of course where is the fun in that, so instead they had a sort of a double whammy of forbidden relationship. Double angst!
I was so heartbroken for Savannah. I love her character, her resilience and strength is admirable. She tends to be bit dramatic and emotional because she is after all still young. I also loved Gregory despite him being arrogant. He is the epitome of conceited geeky hotness. Despite what he did to Karin, I am unable to condone his actions and I wanted him to redeem himself since i really felt that he is really not an ass. He gave her as much respect as he could give given their situation. Being the musical reclusive geek that he is, I accepted him being dense in handling his relationships. I also found him funny in some way, I cracked up in his confrontation scene with Karin when he laid it down to her - oopps?!!! :) The author was able to build up his character in such a way that his actions are redeemable to me. The same goes with Savannah for entering into that situation.
The book was bit too detailed on the specifics of the music world but I still found it interesting and it was hard to put down. Gregory and Savannah's love story infiltrated even my sleep. There were only two detailed love scenes but it was hot! The only thing I didn't like were the supporting characters like Nathan and James because I felt that they were too meddling in Gregory and Savannah's affairs. I also think that Karin is manipulative.
This book is recommended for those who love reading about student-teacher or illicit affairs. I love it! Highly recommended! Hard to put down.
