Infraction - K.I. Lynn

"I am yours. All that I am, if you want it. I'm not much, but i know I can be so much more with you"

In the next book , Infraction, the story of Nathan and Lila continues. Told in Lila's POV, the book started in the hospital scene where the previous book, Dissolution, ended.

In the first parts of the book, I felt lukewarm to it. I felt that the pacing was too slow. I felt disconnected with the blubbering Lila. There was a palpable change in her. I kept missing the strong, indifferent and distant Lila. Instead im reading the soft side of her. I find her actions and statements were over the top dramatic at the start. Her self worth has taken a big downturn more despite it being nonexistent as it is. This also goes for Nathan as I see the broken man both outside for all to see. I eventually understood where all these emotions are coming from and accepted them and liked them all over again.

The author also created likable supporting characters in Caroline, Andrew, Darren, Erin, Sarah, George. Suddenly everyone is lobbying for Lila to hear Nathan out and to let him explain. I understood Lila's hesitation because suddenly many people are caring for her from nonexistent to many in a short period.

Needless to say Nathan and Lila continued to work on their issues with their friends and families help. At about 50% of the book the story started to pick up and my heart broke over and over for Lila and Nathan for the progress and setbacks they continue to encounter. This is also around the time where the book becomes fast paced. The author did a brilliant job in setting the pace making the situations click into place towards the end. I still find Nathan's dirty mouth too much for me but I still like him and I also find him funny. The funny Lila reared her head as well.

The book left us in a nice place while waiting for the next book in the series. While this series have a seemingly light storyline, a forbidden office romance, the characters have insurmountable character issues. Both broken and destroyed by their pasts, they embark on a relationship that they couldn't seem to get away from. The pull of each other were stronger than their issues.

Here's to hoping they will be in a much better place despite confronting more of their demons in the next book.
