Taming The Beast - Emily Maguire

I am unable to say that I like this book because the story is outright disturbing. The story is so dark and deplorable that I found myself wanting to slap not just the heroine but also the characters that facilitated her alarming actions. I’ve decided to still rate the book despite how strongly I feel against the subject matter because the writer in a sense captured the attention of the readers albeit in a disconcerting manner. I would’ve appreciated also if the writer expounded why Sara and Daniel’s relationship is so destructive. In the end though, to be fair the story left us with insights that the actions of parents has profound effects on the lives of the children. It also helped that we get to read in a third person varying views of the different characters, especially the disturbing mind of the heroine, the martyr best friend, and the twisted older man but it would have been nice if we were given deeper perspectives of their actions.

Dear Emily - Trudy Stiles

The story reminded me of another book wherein the lives three different women became interconnected. This story however deals with two women, one unable to conceive while the other will provide that gift. Throughout the story I was reading it with a pain in my heart because I can relate with the issues surrounding Carly. Though I am unable to understand the reasons for wanting to give up a child, I still feel grateful that there are people that are willing to provide that gift. I truly felt Carly’s feeling of inadequacy and Tabitha’s feelings of rejection. I commend Carly’s husband for being the supporting partner but I cannot say the same for Seth and Alex. I loved how the story was written in a slow pace because it facilitated the buildup of the relationships. This book is recommended to those who love reading heartfelt stories. I can't wait to read about Tabitha's story.

Avoiding Temptation is book 3 of the Avoiding series. This is told in Lexi's view alternating between past and present. I love this series so much don't get me wrong but i kinda missed the chapter titles and the song lyrics intro that were in the first two books before it was formally published.

What a roller coaster ride this book has been. I cannot even begin to process how I feel about the ending. I’m both sad and happy. I am not sad on who Lexi ended up choosing, when they finally came together it was sooo beautiful yet heartbreaking. I am also sad because I will surely miss this series. It has definitely grown on me. I love the story and the characters (except Bekah). It loved the writing how it captured my interest and hold it in and leave with a really big book hangover! I’m hoping this wouldn’t be the last I would read from the characters. I fell more in love with Jack and Ramsey and Lexi and their chemical romance all over again. After reading this I was so exhausted, beautifully so, because finally Lexi is happy.

This is highly recommended to those who loved Love me with Lies series.

This series has recently been concluded with the release of the third book Gabriel's Redemption. This is a story of a troubled professor and a graduate student. How they fell in love and how their relationship developed and how they overcame their trials. The series started out as a forbidden type of romance. It was full of angst from book 1 to book 2. It was only in book 3 where we were given a reprieve from the angst. This series is recommended to those who love intelligent type of writing as its written in formal English. Since the professor is the stuffy type it was only fitting. I loved this series and i will definitely miss Gabriel and Julianne.

Sex Love Repeat - Alessandra Torre

Told in alternating views of Madison, a few of Dana and Stewart and Paul. The book has a fresh, new and unique story line, although it may not be for everyone as the characters have an open type of relationship. But is was easy to read and the characters are likable. There was not too much angst. It was short and sweet but erotic on a top scale.The twists and turns are unpredictable and turned my head upside down.I love it and i read this in one night because it was soo hard to out down.

I've decided to review this series altogether as I have read it sequentially. It took a long time for me to finish this as I got into a book funk halfway through it. However, I still really wanted to finish it because I felt I owe it that much. Though it’s not really the typical genre that I favor, but I was drawn to it, much like how I was drawn to the characters.

The series is dark, mysterious and interesting. It’s different and I haven’t read anything like it recently. Told in third person alternating views of various characters such as Val, Gavin, James and Lisa among others, this book is about sick and twisted game of pursuit.

One of the things I liked about the series is that the author was successful in building up the character of Gavin because the readers find him dangerous but still hot. It's wrong to like him as he is portrayed as a sick and twisted sociopath, but his weirdness and mind f*ck attitude is what captures the attention. The readers will fell what Val is feeling, the attraction and arousal to someone dangerous and lethal.

However, as I said earlier I got into a book funk as the story was slow paced and I felt that there were many scenes that weren't really vital to the story. Book 1 detailed how Val and Gavin met, how their attraction grew, how their connection was forged as well as how it was broken and how the fear was planted. Then Book 2 is all about the much delayed gratification, the cat and mouse chase, the prey and predator wild hunt.

Only then in Book 3 is when the chase came to an end. And then I felt relieved for the very long roller coaster ride.

Another thing I liked about the series is that it was written in a fade to black style where there are questions left unanswered and unconfirmed. But it was brilliant because it left things to the reader's imagination.

In the end what Val felt for Gavin was exactly what I felt for this book. I didn't like some parts because I felt there was too much details but yet I was captivated.

This book is recommended to those who love mystery and thriller love stories.
